DAV has been my Power of Attorney on three occasions in the past 37+ years of fighting the VA. Each time I was told that the DAV could not help me because the VA "would not respond in a proper manner". In other words the VA would not give anyone access to my files.
I have been fighting this fight alone with out any help from anyone.
Now that I'm involved with the Courts I have been looking for a lawyer to help me with my case and to help me to understand what's happening next.
I picked The Veterans Consortium - Pro Bono Program to represent me in my fight. Today I called their office looking for some understanding, and I was put in touch with Mr. Len Gilmer. I was so put down by Mr. Gilmer with his yelling at me calling me a liar and a few other choice words that he used, as he claimed to be a Rep from the DAV. I was very badly verbally abused by Mr. Gilmer. I felt that I should look else where for help. He could not seem to get his anger level down to talk to me in a decent manner. I told him that he was the worst person that I ever had tried to talk to and I no longer wanted to talk to him. (He just hung up on me). I called back to talk to someone else a few minutes later and got a Dave on the line. Dave answered my questions very nicely and made me feel a little better about the Pro Bono Program.
I feel that Mr. Len Gilmer has no business talking to me in the manner that he did. He was just an angry, mad, evil person that seemed bent on running me away from the Pro Bono Program. How can the DAV allow a person like that represent them?
